No student data
Cenovel holds no student data. Here is what it does hold, what it never holds, and where it lives.
Updated October 4, 2026
The statement
Cenovel holds no student data. It is software for a district’s network and IT staff. It does not collect, store or process student records, and Cenovel the company receives no district data at all.
What Cenovel holds
- Equipment, places and network records: devices, serials, closets, ports, outages, work, funding and disposal records.
- Staff accounts: names, work email addresses, directory identifiers, and sign-in and audit records.
- Building and closet contacts: a name, work email, phone and title, and who holds a closet’s keys.
- One student-related number: an enrollment count per site, which the E-Rate Category 2 budget formula needs. It is a count the district enters, not information about any student.
What it never holds
- Student names, IDs, grades, schedules, enrollment records or contact details.
- Student accounts: students never sign in to Cenovel.
- Any connection to a student information system: there is no SIS or OneRoster integration.
Notes and descriptions are free text and hold whatever is typed into them. Districts agree not to type student information into Cenovel.
Where the data lives
Everything Cenovel holds stays on the district’s own appliance. It sends no telemetry and does not phone home, so nothing it holds reaches Cenovel the company. Support works from what the district chooses to send, and the support bundle masks secrets and holds no database content.
Data privacy agreements
We sign district data privacy agreements. On the Student Data Privacy Consortium’s National Data Privacy Agreement (NDPA), the schedule of student data (Exhibit B) is marked “None — No Student Data”, and we will tell the district at once if that ever changes.
