Nightly configuration backups
With Back up switch configurations each night on in Features (it is by default), Cenovel reads each switch’s running configuration once a night with one read-only command, or takes Juniper Mist’s generated configuration where SSH is off. It hides every password, key and community, and keeps a version when the configuration changed.
Review changes made outside Cenovel
- Open Network › Configuration changes. Pick a site and How far back (7, 30 or 90 days).
- Read Changes: changes Cenovel didn’t make, found in its nightly reads, with the switch, where it is, what changed and when it was found.
- Choose a row for what changed on that switch, line by line, and Open the switch.
Changes Cenovel made itself are never listed as found; they are under Switch changes on the same page.
A switch’s own history
On a switch page, the Configuration card shows any kept version, how many secrets were hidden, and whether it was read over SSH or generated by Mist; Read now reads it again. With Explain configuration lines on, select a line to see what it does, where it sits, what happens without it and the related lines. A line Cenovel’s reference doesn’t cover says so; nothing is guessed. Explanations nobody has reviewed yet appear only with Show draft command explanations on, marked as drafts.
