Find an endpoint

Find where a device is plugged in from its hardware address, IP address, host name or person: the school, switch, port and VLAN, and where it has been.

Find a device on the network

Where is this laptop, phone or camera plugged in? Open Network › Endpoint finder, or type into the header search: an address-like entry lists devices first, and See all matches opens Endpoint finder.

  1. Type at least two characters: a hardware address in any spelling, an IP address, a host name, an asset or a person (someone with an asset checked out to them).
  2. Read the Devices table, newest first: the device, where it is, its VLAN, IP address and when it was seen (“Now”, or a time).
  3. Choose a row for Where this device is (site, school, VLAN, IP and maker), Where it has been (each port, dated), its IP addresses and its asset, then Open port.

Viewing it also needs view rights on Site equipment; an administrator grants both in Settings › People and access.

What it looks through

Answers come from the switches’ and routers’ address tables Cenovel already reads, so a switch read over an hour ago is shown as such, and a switch that is not answering says so. A device seen only on links between switches is “Port unknown”: Cenovel never places a device on an uplink. Nothing is sent to a device. Turned off with Find any device in Features, the page says so and search finds records only.

Search the demo for a hardware or IP address.
