Manage IP addresses

Subnets with their VLANs and DHCP scopes, which addresses are in use, free or in conflict, and reserving an address as a record in Cenovel.

GuideReviewed against the application source on October 12, 2026

Which addresses are free?

Open Network › IP addresses. The strip counts subnets, addresses in use, free where read, reserved, conflicts, overlapping subnets and use unknown. The Subnets table gives each subnet’s school, VLAN, in use, free, DHCP scope and what needs a look. Address conflicts and VLANs with no known subnet have panels of their own. Viewing it also needs view rights on Site equipment; an administrator grants both in Settings › People and access.

Reserve an address

  1. Choose a subnet. Its drawer lists the addresses (now, device, reserved for), the free ranges and where the subnet comes from.
  2. Choose Reserve on a free range, or Reserve an address.
  3. Fill in the address, who it is for, the purpose, a hardware address if you have one, and notes, then Reserve address.
  4. To give it back, choose Release and confirm.

A reservation is a record in Cenovel: nothing is sent to a device or a DHCP server. “Free” is shown only where an ARP read covers the subnet; elsewhere use is unknown.

Record a subnet

Record a subnet adds one the switches’ configurations don’t show: subnet, VLAN, school, name, gateway, DHCP scope and leases in use. You need edit rights on IP addresses.
