Opal 2.0.5
Quieter polling: switches are pinged every minute and read over SSH every 10 minutes.
Release notesReleased October 14, 2026All releases
Improved
- The one-minute availability checks ping each device first, ask SNMP only when the ping doesn't come back, and connect to the SSH port only when neither can be asked. A switch that answers ping is no longer contacted over SSH between full reads.
- Once the one-minute checks open outages, a switch read over SSH is read in full every 10 minutes, and straight away when it answers again after being silent, when it restarts, when it sends a device event and when someone presses Ask now. The spacing is set with Read switches over SSH every, in the Full reads card under Monitoring.
- On the appliance, pings to on-site devices are always allowed, not only while network tests are on.
Upgrade notes
- No database change. Install it as you installed 2.0.4; the compose file now allows unprivileged ping for the console.
- To space the SSH reads, turn on Open “not answering” outages from the one-minute checks in Settings › System › Features. Until then, switches are read every cycle as before.
- If a switch's management ACL drops ping from Cenovel, the checks fall back to SNMP and then the SSH port.
