Opal 2.2.0

Guides can hold a switch’s own answer, captured once with its secrets hidden; cards across the console draw what they say instead of writing it out; drawers and pop-ups close without moving the page; and switch reads open fewer connections.

New

  • Put a switch’s answer in a guide. While editing, Insert › Command output runs one approved read on a switch, once, and lets you keep only the lines that matter. The guide keeps that answer with the switch, the time and who captured it; it never runs again by itself. Passwords, keys and community strings are hidden before anything is kept, and every run is in the audit trail.
  • District › Standards draws each site as a meter of checks that meet, don’t meet and couldn’t be checked, with each reason as the device and what it has against what it should have (17.6.3 → 17.9.5). The standard itself is a set of rule tiles.

Improved

  • Cards across the console lead with a picture of what they say: Health risks, a site’s Needs a look, Testing readiness, access point policies and their changes, proposed fixes, the Now cards for switches, access points, servers and battery backups, Security overview, E-Rate rules and dates, outage history, the daily log, port profiles, modular moves, test equipment, the testing calendar, days off and the Settings explanations. Every sentence is still there, as the row’s hover title and on its record. The Morning report stays as text.
  • Couldn’t be checked, Unknown and Not recorded each look different everywhere they are drawn.
  • Cards keep their size while they read, refresh in place without blanking, and say Couldn’t refresh in their head instead of pushing a box in above.
  • The District section labels in the sidebar sit with their own pages.
  • Reset columns brings back a register’s default columns and widths, and a row’s More is never cut off.

Fixed

  • Closing a drawer, dialog, menu or pop-up no longer scrolls or moves the page behind it.
  • A timeline’s dots no longer show a dark square on frosted cards.
  • Cenovel no longer checks a switch’s SSH port before reading a switch that answered recently, a check that could arrive a minute late, and Ask now pressed again while a read runs shares that read instead of failing.
  • Identifying a new switch uses one signed-in connection instead of one per command.

Upgrade notes

  • One database change, for captured guide output. Back up first, as for every upgrade.
